This is an exerpt from a review of the Transformers.

I read the movie was intentionally made this way to give it that cartoonish feel as the reviewer pointed out.
I believe as you get the opportunity to see more movies in HD you will truly see a difference in most films, some huge some minor, but I have yet to see one that was worse in HD than in SD.
