Actually, my point was to have the pre amp do the processing job and pass the signal digitally (5-8 channels post processing) on to the AMP for distribution to the speakers.

I realize that right now this probably can't be done, but if, hint hint, axiom were to produce their own preamp, they could enginner it this way incorporating an ADAT protocal over the toslink or coax cable..no?
