The whole high def thing has been in a constant state of flux(insert Back to the Future quip here) since its inception and neither party should have released anything till they had a stable product. As Brotherbob said not everyone is computer literate that is into HT and these updates are not in their best interests meaning they have a new piece of equipment that is useless because they are not comfortable or don't know how to do these 'easy updates'.
