In terms of design, they will be warmer in A mode, but when they switch over to AB mode, they should run cooler. Ken, I can say they have to have airflow around them... I can't put mine in my AV cabinet as the top one gets way to hot. However, I have one in the AV cabinet, and the other one in the back closet behind everything out of sight, now they are only just warm to the touch.

I think the A/AB type amp in general will run warmer without good ventilation.
