Well... Since the likely cause of my problems is incorrect codes and that phase II of my setup (which was going to wait next month) involved an IR-receiver and learner, I decided to order them right away (will be here next week). In the meantime, I still have some work to finish the client remote and then I can use a small simulator to finalize the mechanisms of some higher-level algos.
