We survived. Not quite as bad here as the NWS thought; at the worst point, they were predicting 14-22 inches of snow. We got about a foot, maybe 13 inches. Though as expected, there was enough wind to whip up some decent 2-3' drifts in town, and some nice 4'-5' drifts out in the rural areas.

My town basically shut down yesterday. Schools and many businesses are still closed today. Just too many people live in rural areas here. As usual after a big snowstorm, brilliantly sunny but brutally cold today. -8(F) last night.

My wife & I spent the day shoveling out and just having an honest-to-goodness snow day, as both of our employers decided to close. It was kind of nice, actually, our whole neighborhood out shoveling snow together.

Though I have decided that the next time I see snowblowers on sale, I may have to buy one. We don't get "big" snows here all that often, but boy, it would have saved the day. Shoveling out a 100' driveway of 12-20 inch deep snow with snowshovels is not much fun. Bring on the Advil. frown

I found this especially appropriate ...
