I certainly do not think that statement is harsh at all.
Athough rankings are useful for individuals trying to decide between 2 items, or for companies working on new designs, etc. i personally prefer the reviews that actually discuss speakers/equipment qualities without ranking them. I think it is more useful for someone to read that Rockets may be more laid back while Axioms may be more forward sounding, as opposed to Rockets model BB scoring 9.7 and Axioms model YY scoring 9.4 therefore the Rockets "win".
Consumers should choose their 'winner' based on sound preference rather than an arbitrary number scale which inevitably will vary by personal preferences anyway.
Many of these sound qualities should become evident as more and more consumer reviews, especially those done as well as craigsub's, are posted for reading.
