Now that I have had a little more time to play, I tend to think that it is the output from the Sony TV. The internal FM tuner plays louder and the OPPO DVD plays louder.

I need to read both the TV and receiver's manuals again. I've played around a little bit but I can't get it the way that I think that it should be.
