Speaker wire and patch cables perform a technologically trivial function by serving as a low resistance pathway for the electromagnetic wave that travels along the outside of the wire. The items to perform this without audible flaws are available at reasonable cost from many suppliers such as MonoPrice and Total Signal. Claims to the contrary collapse when put to the (blind listening)test.
