I've read through the thread on Panasonic GT30. It took a firmware luminance fix called 2.1 to brighten it up enough to make it better looking in THX mode. Before this fix, THX was too dim. Most people seem to think it has superior Picture Quality to LCD/LED TV's.

There's still debate as to whether or not you need to give it a burn-in period by rotating through some slides that help the phosphors to burn in evenly for the first 100 hours of use.
