i've read corresponcence from Pioneer that said they have nothing against someone doing a burn-in on a TV.
they were talking about plasma tv's.

i've seen myself on my Kuro that the phosphors are more prone to image retention during the first hundred hours; but there is not much difference.

also, image retention does no damage, contrary to image burn-in; there's also the fact that most TV's that have image burn-in have been used in stores as demos and some of them display the same fixed image 8 hours a day... the same can happen at home if one leaves a video game on pause for the night.
CRT's had the same problem too.
