I will actually have a small room (12x16), but I want to error on the side of overkill,
Dual EP800s would do nicely then.
Honestly, there are a lot of choices out there from Axiom to SVS (or Epik, or ED, or HSU) to DIY. If you are thinking overkill I would not go with less than the EP600.
FWIW, I will be building a horn loaded sub using a 6.5" driver that should reach ~95 db in my small room and be flat to 25Hz: an amazing accomplisnment for such a small driver. This will be a just for fun project while I figure out how to use the driver for bass augmentation in my car.
