Gogi Grant was NOT R & R. She died last week at 90. What WAS significant about her biggest hit, "The Wayward Wind," is that, in 1956, it pushed Elvis' "Jailhouse Rock" out of Billboard's top spot. That makes her an indelible part of R & R history.
