Heat will def not be an issue. As I said I measured the brick while I had a fire going for a few hours, it didn't even get warm to the touch. There is now a layer of 4" insulation and a row of 2x6's over it. It will be fine.

Yeah I usually do to, but there really is nowhere else to put it. The room is kind of narrow to put the sofa under the window and TV on the opposite wall. I'll just make sure I get a sofa that reclines...lol. Oh and the speakers will be at least at ear level :).
