In terms of Denons, I specifically meant 887 which does HDMI upconverting and audio (1.1) but it is significantly cheaper than 2807 (or 987). What's missing in 887 that I can't figure it out? Why is so much cheaper?


The 887 is the equivalent to the 2307Ci, where as the 997 is the equivalent to the 2807.

Here are Some of the differences between the 2807 and the 2307CI, that I picked up over on AVS. They're from two separate posts.

2807 has Audyssey MultEQ XT
2807 has 480i-480p conversion from analog to HDMI(I don't think the 2307CI has this, although I'm not a 100% sure)
2307CI has XM HD Surround, 2807 just has XM
2807 has more inputs
2807 has 110w x 7 amplification, the 2307CI has 100w x 7
