I happen to use bias in a much lighter sense, as in predisposition or preference, like it is used in science. E.g.,
To remove the influence of brand bias from a listening test, it is a good idea to hide the equipment from the listener. While it is fun to debate semantics, it really is besides the point. Language is only as effective a communication tool as its user. Our definitions don't mesh exactly, and that's fine.
