When I'm texting while driving, it would be much safer to hold the phone up at eye level to see better. But, because of all the negativity about this activity, you have to hold it down where it's harder to keep an eye on the road, therefore contributing to the dangerous nature of it.

(I've recently stopped this dangerous activity. I pull off of the road first, when convenient.)

But my gripe is you sometimes have to make it more dangerous in order to do it in the first place, contributing to more accidents.

Perhaps a better solution would be for the car and phone companies to work together to disable the texting function while the motor is running.
