Can I do this and will it work ok? Next month, I'll have a 3D tv and player, but not the receiver. (Note: All hdmi cable would be the newer kind that supports 3D. I'm assuming they are interchangeable in the plugs).

3D TV
3D blu-ray player
2D receiver

Run HDMI to an amplified splitter, from the player.
Run one end to the TV.
Run the other end to the receiver.
Speakers attached to the receiver.
No output running from the receiver to the TV.
