So far, I like the overall sound with EQ on better than changing the tone controls, except for some of the highs. Maybe my ears need to adjust, i don't know. I'll have to get other's opinions too. I just don't remember having this problem before. Will have to play around with it some more.

One thing that seems to help a bit, is to set dynamic volume to the Day setting, leaving EQ on. Doesn't remove the problem entirely, but tames it a bit. It could be that my ears are just more sensitive to certain frequencies. But then, why didn't I ever notice this with the Pioneer receiver?

Another chalk mark for Pioneer.

This is almost funny. Sounds like I'm claiming Denon to be bright, and Pioneer to be warm and fuzzy sounding.
