With that kind of luck, I went by my bank and applied for a credit card. I've been turned down for over 8 years.

Not that I need one. I just wanted to use it as a tool for rebuilding my credit to a better score.
Never charge more than 50% of borrowing limit. Always pay it off in a reasonable amount of time.
Never just pay the minimum. Always pay on time.
