This sounds like my common experience with US sauvignon blanc. Dry, high acidity, hardly any flavour, boring really.

Viognier is usually more lively and is often used for blending because of its strong character.


Then you need to get to the US more often. I can point you to at least a dozen off the top of my head that are nothing like that. Sav Blanc is the big thing in Napa right now. Some are going for as much as $150 a bottle.

Viogniers in the Paso area are fantastic.
