I understand if it's all on the same PCB and it was just easier to stick it all behind one door but....

Steve, although I have no right to criticize as I did not order one, I agree with you on this. I was completely shocked to find out all the connections were on the front. The thing is so beautiful, I couldn't imagine having the door open with wires or a flash drive sticking out.

And why is there no independent "master" volume knob? I currently use an Airport Express to stream music into a traditional integrated amp. I set the "max volume" with the dial on the amp, and then use the digital volume on the streaming device for fine adjustments. It works great. (Even my powered M2's have a traditional volume knob.) This would certainly solve (at least temporarily) the "full blast" volume situation that Eric is dealing with currently.

Yeah, and to echo your comment, I didn't order one (although I did try) so maybe I have no right to crticize either but a without a physical volume knob or buttons I could see some frustration with the less techy in my house. I can hear the woman already...."you paid how much for that and it doesn't even have a volume knob!" LOL. I was hoping to get matching wood for the kitchen on it so she wouldn't notice that. Jokes aside, what happens when support for this ages or stops? apps don't work, browsers don't work with it anymore, it basically has a shelf life. I trust Axiom wouldn't do this, but what about when you don't have a phone? maybe your out camping, phone died, now your AA is basically useless because you can't press play or turn the volume up and down. I gotta think this through vs the competition before dumping cash on this I think. Without hearing it first - and now the cost is quite high (thank you crappy Canadian dollar) it is a risk for such a toy. This is why I asked so many questions during the kickstarter and kept putting off ordering when we couldn't get answers. Will it work for my purposes? I don't know. I could see it working at my workplace though. University, a little box like this would be great for setting up audio in small rooms for a casual event. Kids already got the phones - problem solved. Then add the mic option and boom - portable PA system with built in media center. Right now we gotta bring a mixer and pa system and even then they want to play their music on their phones which turns into a mess of wires and only one phone connected. Could even connect a Projector to it. Some possibilities there beyond home use.
